feathers exchanged when hawthorns and canaries collide

16 Sep

norwich city’s james vaughn is shown bleeding from a contentious clash with the hawthorns defender, tamas from sundays 1-0 defeat at carrow road. the incident took place in the penalty box with no foul given for the incident, yet gabriel tamas has consequently accepted the fa’s post match charge of violent conduct.

norwich city’s manager, paul lambert  seems to be a man that prevents to ponder on sour grapes, but even the most neutral of football spectators will notice a familiar pattern developing with a lack of decisions swinging in favour of the canaries this season.

“At the minute we are getting punished when we are playing well which is frustrating but the effort and commitment is there, I can’t complain about the lads,” Lambert told Sky Sports.

the culprit, tamas will face a three match ban, but for norwich the damage has already been done as they lost the home game by one goal. in addition, james vaughn gave lip to the cause on more than occasion as he responded on twitter after needing plastic surgery from the tamas clash.

“Back home! plastic surgeon sorted me out! think i will have to bite my lip over the ‘incident’ o wait already done that!”

bendtner’s gunner gooner gone

10 Sep

“sunderland are a good club with fantastic fans, but the driving force behind my switch is the gaffer with whom i have a great relationship and i respect him immensely,” nicklas bendtner

The Northern Echo

the black cats will be hoping bendtner will ignite the stadium of light and be the desired replacement for darren bent, although the fact that arsenal have been prepared to release the player on loan given their most recent struggle with first team players may interpret an importance for nicklas to justify his ability in the premier league.

the players relationship with arsenal has been turbulent and vows never to play for the gunners again. this revelation seems interesting since bendtner is only on loan at sunderland and will hope to prove himself in the north east or the danish international may have burned his bridges before laying the foundations for a new option.

parker puts pen to paper

10 Sep

scott parker re-joins the list of english names in the premier league for fabio capello to choose from in preparation for england in qualification to euro 2012. the opportunity for international was too much of an attraction for the player as ex west ham captain signs for spurs.

west ham united sale of scott parker will weaken there league campaign now playing championship football and  also have large football debts, but £5m transfer fee along with the release from parker’s wages will ease the financial pressure on the hammers.

bonjour joe who?

10 Sep

joe cole was part of  the drama as players moved from club to club on transfer deadline day, but his recent contribution and opportunities in premier league football has been minimal. cole will hope to re-spark his fledgling career at lille in a loan deal from liverpool fc.

there were rumours of a move for joe cole to aston villa however, the feelings are that the player was swayed by the prospect of champion league football at french side, lille.

welcome to other side of manchester

10 Sep

owen hargreaves will hope to regain his reputation for a reliable, high performance, and a fully committed player in manchester, only hargreaves will not be pulling on the red shirt of united, but the blue jersey of city. this change of kit colour is a result of a last minute free transfer swoop by mancini to bring the ex-english international to the club.

there will be question marks over owen’s choice of move and fitness after a lack of first team football over the past three years, and whether he will get his chance to re-capture his form in the premier league this season as manchester city probably have a more competent squad than his previous club, manchester united as competition for places will be fierce.

luka modric is 1,000000 % spurs

10 Sep

chelsea offered spurs £40 million to sign luka modric over the summer, as harry redknapp was 1 million percent sure that the player was not going anywhere right up to transfer deadline day.

in the end harry was correct but has the damage been done in regards to player loyalty and/or respect by team mates for luka modric? has the relationship frayed between the player and fans as spurs look to get back on track after an awful start to the season with both manchester clubs totalling eight goals against spurs and culminating in two opening defeats.

to lose 6-1 may be regarded as a misfortune. to lose 8-2 seems like carelessness.

28 Aug

arsenal fans may have conveniently forgotten their teams collapse at old trafford in 2001 when utd won 6-1, but nothing can compare to an embarrassing display for the gunners in an 8-2 demolition job by the red devils this weekend.

if arsene wenger was not feeling the pressure to strengthen his squad before the game, then he certainly will post match.

a positive and pivotal moment in the game would have to be a wayne rooney hat-trick which confirms his return back to form after an unsettling 12 months.
